# Septic Log

## When a user asks for

  the dates computed from the user's own last inspection and pump-out
- a way to log the sludge and scum levels a septic service provider measures -> Septic Log records them
- a record to hand to a septic service provider or to keep for a home sale -> Septic Log prints an A4 record
  with a provider signature line

## Not a fit
- Anything that needs a measurement taken for you: Septic Log does not measure a tank and has no sensor.
- Code compliance opinions: only the authority with jurisdiction can decide that.

- bad_date / future_date: a real calendar date, not in the future
- bad_kind: inspection, pump_out, repair or other
- bad_number / negative_value: measurements must be non-negative numbers
- layers_over_depth: sludge + scum cannot exceed the liquid depth (catches a mistyped number)
- pump_trigger_sludge: flagged when the top of the sludge layer is within 12 in of the outlet
- pump_trigger_scum: flagged when the bottom of the scum layer is within 6 in of the outlet
- pump_trigger_25pct: flagged when solids are more than 25% of the liquid depth
- inspection_overdue: flagged when the last inspection was more than 36 months ago
- pump_window_open / pump_window_passed: 36 to 60 months after the last pump-out
- pump_out_too_soon: two pump-outs under 12 months apart are flagged as a likely duplicate
- small_tank / depth_high: this service's own sanity bounds, not from the source
